Individualized Home Supports (IHS) are offered in three distinct service types, including:
Individualized Home Supports – With Training
This service includes both direct assistance and skill-building to support greater independence in daily living. Individuals receive coaching and practice in areas such as hygiene, meal preparation, and community participation.
Staff teaching client independent cooking skills.
Practicing money management and budgeting together.
Supporting client with using public transportation.
Reviewing coping skills and progress at the end of the day.
Individualized Home Supports – Without Training
This type provides non-instructional help with routine activities like dressing, mobility, and household tasks. Support is focused on maintaining comfort, stability, and independence in familiar environments.
Staff assisting client with household chores such as laundry.
Preparing meals together to support daily living needs.
Accompanying client to community appointments.
Providing companionship during evening routines.
Individualized Home Supports – With Family Training
This model offers guidance to family members on how to support their loved one effectively. It includes both practical assistance and teaching strategies that encourage safe, confident caregiving at home.
Staff modeling daily routines while family observes and learns.
Coaching family members on behavior support strategies.
Working with client and family on communication skills.
Debriefing with family to reinforce strategies for ongoing support.
